I focus on super-high-quality vintage amp restoration, specializing in Fender Blackfaces and Ampeg Fliptops. Here's my process, and a pile of outstanding feedback from happy ebay and Reverb buyers.

TAKING THE RISK OUT OF BUYING VINTAGE GEAR
Buying vintage amps is fraught with peril. Not all buyers know what technical details to ask. Many sellers selectively omit information. And saying an amp was "gone through" doesn't tell you much. You may have to spend hundreds to ensure the tubes, pots, caps, inputs, effects etc. work flawlessly. Even then - how clean is it? Does 50 years of bar-room filth make you fear typhoid if you fish around inside the cab? Is it structurally sound? What hidden component is "just about" to go bad? And shipping - vintage tube amps are at great risk in the hands of Fedex or UPS.
Good news: when you buy from me, I minimize ALL those risks. It's all about crazy attention to detail, and good Karma. I'm a working musician who actually gigs and records with the gear you are buying. I love this stuff, and hope it shows. Here's my process:

o Amp Tech: One of the Southeast's top vintage techs inspects every component. He's extremely knowledgeable and thorough. Our policy: if a component (cap, tube etc.) may need repair in the next few years, we'll fix or replace it. If not, leave it be. I have other experts I consult with as well.
o Full disclosure: I give a detailed report on the condition and any work I've done. I provide numerous high-res photos. I answer all questions in a straightforward manner.
o Demo: I offer an audio demo: Skype or FaceBook video, by phone, mp3's, whatever works best for you.
o Test: Before I ship, I give EVERYTHING a final test. If something ain't right - I fix it!
o Shipping: I spare no effort or cost to pack the gear VERY carefully. I remove, label and bubble wrap the tubes. Make sure nothing is loose inside the cab. Protect the grill. Heavy bubble wrap, then a generous layer of peanuts on all sides. All in a quality box, shipped insured. I reuse packing to save the planet!
o Upon arrival: I provide detailed instructions to reinstall the tubes and any other details needed.
o Returns: Unless stated otherwise, I offer returns. See my returns policy.
o Problems?: Stuff happens. If something goes wrong, we'll work it out. I've sold dozens of vintage amps and guitars, and have proudly maintained 100% positive feedback.
o Advice: Want my opinion on the differences in speakers to put in a blackface or fliptop? Or the difference between blackface models? Gigging vs. recording? Tilt legs, grill cloth, tolex? Call me, I will be happy to share what I have learned!

Bottom line: Buy with CONFIDENCE. You can own a killer vintage amp without rolling the dice. I work hard to get it right and treat people fairly.
