I recently undertook my own resto-mod of a 1980’s Sonor Phonic drum kit. During this process, I methodically designed and fabricated my own vulcanized fiber gaskets to isolate every piece of metal hardware from the wood shells.

My goal was to meet or exceed the look and quality of Sonor’s original vulcanized fiber gaskets used on their flagship Signature and Lite series drums from the same era. After extensive fine-tuning of my designs, I am finally happy to put the gaskets on my own drums, and I am happy to put them on your Sonor drums as well!

Vulcanized fiber gaskets not only give your drums a more ‘finished’ look, they also enhance the drum’s sound by isolating the metal hardware from the wood shells. Vulcanized fiber does not become brittle and crack over time like modern rubber-based gaskets. My gaskets are made from new, industrial-grade material sourced here in the USA, and I personally make the gaskets in small batches in order to maintain the highest possible quality. Enjoy!
