An inspiring, interesting character is what we look for in the tools we used to create. Modern equipment often falls short of this as it is of lesser quality, ubiquitous and unbroken. Conversely, used and vintage equipment has character in spades as it has seen things. These objects have developed their characters through years of being played by artists, touring, or in rare cases, sitting in a collection with a lot of other very interesting characters. They all produce work unique to their situation, and inspire users in that same way. Whether it is a cigarette burn on the keys in the base register of a Rhodes Mk1 from a dart forgotten in the heat of a brilliant solo, or a repaired headstock on a Les Paul injured in a ill time stage dive, these objects will give your art the character you are searching for, and probably develop yours in the process.
