I am a player and a music lover. Starting at age eight, I played drums and sang in various local garage bands and in High School I concentrated more on acoustic guitar and lead vocals. In college I played drums in a Rock group while being the other half of an acoustic duo simultaneously. At the age of twenty I started singing in clubs and restaurants in Dallas and then made the trek to Southern California go give it a shot. I won NBC's The Gong Show and defeated Pee Wee Herman's group on national television. I recorded demos for songwriter's including Bob Stone who wrote, Gypsy's Tramps and Thieves for Cher. I performed all over southern California as a single and then put together a hot five-piece Southern Rock group. As my wife and I started having children I wanted to be home more so I got back into Radio and TV where I had a nice forty year career. In my fifties I joined a Bluegrass group in Arkansas and was their front man and lead singer. In that group I also played guitar, banjo, ukulele, dobro, mandolin and harmonica. When I turned sixty I sang and played banjo, guitar, ukulele and Dobro on an award winning Children's album produced by Amazon. Now I'm seventy. I still play at least two hours a day. I have had Parkinson's for over ten years and my finger dexterity is slowing a bit so I'm selling a few of my instruments. I will probably sell five or ten instruments on Reverb (maybe more because I have too much stuff.) I appreciate fine instruments that are affordable and well cared for. If there's a nice instrument in my home and it's not being played I would rather sell it to someone who will play it. I am retired and live on six acres with my wife of forty-nine years and the kid's are all grown and gainfully employed. One daughter is a budding fiction writer with two Master's degrees. She just signed a six-figure book deal with the same publisher as J.K. Rowling of Harry Potter fame and her new book will be released in November. Our youngest daughter is a homemaker who sings lead and plays keyboard for a club band in Houston. And, the oldest daughter has been a professional writer, singer, player and performer for twenty years and has two GRAMMY awards. She is widely considered one of the finest contemporary female voices in Rock. My wife is also a pretty good piano player and singer and we've been married for forty-nine years. One of my hobbies is working with wood and I've restored some boats and I also repair and restore musical instruments. I would never sell an instrument that wasn't set-up properly or one that I wouldn't be proud of. I also gain a lot of personal satisfaction from helping people get interested in playing an instrument.
