Hi, I'm Scott McDonald, owner and luthier here at Seventh Day Guitars. I've had a passion for woodworking and guitars as long as I can remember. Whether it's building, drawing, or playing music I've always enjoyed working with my hands. There's just something special that happens when a person puts their hands to work and partners with God in creating beauty. And, although these things brought me joy I only ever viewed them as hobbies and never a means to provide for my family.

In 2020, while working from home because of the pandemic I started losing the sight in my right eye. The doctors' theories ranged from a simple virus to MS or Cancer. The words of my father in law who had passed in 2006 from cancer, came back to me. "If I had it to do all over again I wouldn't have stopped pursuing my passions and immersing myself in what brought me joy."
The next day, I created my guitar workshop and began to build my first guitar. A few weeks later, the night before receiving my final MRI results, I went to work in the shop to calm my nerves. While working it dawned on me that I was worry free. I felt complete. I knew then that's what God was calling me to do and that's where Seventh Day Guitars gets its name. The 7th day of creation. The day of completion and rest.
