Guitars4You is owned lock stock and barrel by Mark Hopkin – I have a lifetime’s experience in the retail guitar business, going back to 1978, when I joined the family business, Wisher (Derby) Ltd, straight from school – Prior to that, I spent 4 years working every Saturday and school holiday, even skiving many days from school, in order to work in the shop – My grandfather and father both spent a lifetime in the music business – My father was practically born in the music shop, managed by my grandfather, back in the 1930’s – Over the years, three generations helped to establish Wisher’s as a successful, popular and knowledgeable music shop within the Midlands – Following the sale of Wisher’s to Carlsbro Retail in 1987, I spent a number of years working at Play It Again Sam, Academy of Sound and Mark Hopkin Guitar Gallery, all within the midlands area. In the summer of 2004, 2 years after the birth of my daughter, Guitars4You was born

I'm based in the Midlands, in the old market town of Ashbourne, Derbyshire – A small, yet discerning guitar business, with the emphasis on quality not quantity – My passion, knowledge and expertise has been acquired over 50 years of working in the guitar industry – Granted the days, time and investment required to stock and run the major accounts with the likes of Fender Custom Shop and PRS Guitars are now behind me, but I still like to be surrounded by used classic guitars – As long as I can walk and talk, then I still wish to be able to touch, play and chat about such guitars on a regular basis – The guitars that I own, play, buy and sell, reflect me and my knowledge, along with my passion, for classic guitars, as well as the odd nice vintage guitar that I acquire from time to time – Each and every guitar that is listed for sale on my web site has been played, checked and set-up by me – In order to get the best out of each instrument, I take my time to evaluate it, in order that I get to know it – Not a quick process, but an enjoyable one, that is always part of a learning curve.

UK Guitar Shows – I’m currently booked into 18 guitar shows during 2026, across various venues – Details will be posted on my web site nearer the time of each show, so watch this space – Come along and say hi – I’ll always be taking with me a few nice classic guitars, including some from my Private Collection.
