As a soundengineer I always loved microphones. They are an important part of the chain and the first one where you have control. I mean, most of the time you can't really change the musicians or their instruments, but, with the microphone, your part in the process starts.
Microphones come in all styles and flavours and can give you just that bit of extra with their character. Just don't expect miracles, they are tools, like a paintbrush, and as you know, a good paintbrush doesn't make you Picasso. (Same goes for instruments, by the way.) So remember that when you buy 'the' Frank Sinatra microphone, you still need a voice like Frank Sinatra.
So, besides a user, I became a collector, buyer, and seller of microphones. If needed, I repair and clean them, or I make hybrid microphones ( like using the housing from a death microphone for the capsule from one with a broken or shit housing ).
I will never sell anything that I wouldn't use myself.
