Overview
With the Toraiz-SP-16 Sampler and Sequencer, Pioneer aimed to bridge the gap between DJs and live electronic musicians. Similar to Elektron’s Octatrack and Akai’s MPC Live, the Toraiz SP-16 is a powerful groovebox, with great sampling, synthesis (hell, Dave Smith filters!), and sequencing capabilities. While it may be attractive to some DJs, this machine is really at its best as a potent sound design and compositional tool.
