About this listing
For sale or best offer is a vintage 1958 Gretsch 6161 Country Gentleman amplifier, made by Valco. Also known as the Electromatic Twin, the 6161 is all-tube and has a notably uncommon, but fantastic, speaker arrangement. It features two 6"x11" oval speakers coupled with a 4" tweeter, all made by Rola. This is an earlier model that employs a pair of 6V6 output tubes, a 12AX7, two 6SQ7 octal tubes, and a 5Y3 rectifier, producing around 14 Watts. It was recently serviced, receiving fresh filter capacitors, a 3 prong cord, crossover cap for its tweeter, and updated coupling caps where needed. It is super stylish and sounds amazing: rich and complex, never shrill or abrasive. An amazing amp for for recording. Please feel free to ask any questions or call us for an in-hand description!
