1999 Epiphone Hummingbird, Heritage Cherry Sunburst: Hummingbird from Epiphone’s Golden EraLate 1999! Many players consider the late-’90s Korean Epiphones some of the best the brand ever made, with build quality and wood a step above many later imports. It has everything that makes a Hummingbird a Hummingbird: the glowing Heritage Cherry Sunburst top, the engraved tortoise pickguard with hummingbird, flowers and butterfly, split-parallelogram inlays, multi-ply binding and vintage-style tuners with green keystone buttons. It sounds warm, sweet and well balanced, with the strong midrange that’s ideal for strumming and singing. The top is very clean and the sunburst still looks bright and lively. The back and sides show honest player wear, with scratches and handling marks consistent with a guitar that’s 25+ years old. It comes in a black hardshell case with burgundy plush lining.
