Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a somewhat rare 1950's era Electro Voice 654 model dynamic microphone with easy adjustable HIGH and LOW impedance settings. This unique microphone has the adjustable lever situated on the E.V badge and can give you that control you need over the sound characteristics. It slides smoothly and works perfectly. This 654 comes with the original brown suede mic sleeve in which to store the mic. Pic # 2 shows this very model in a 1950's E.V catalog I have. It was a very expensive studio mic for it's time. The frequency response on the mic is very good and has a lovely tone. The dual Z option allows you to get a distinct sound on both settings. This was a favorite make and model for Dick Clark (as seen in pic # 3) and it was seen year after year on American Bandstand. I'm not quite sure when Dick Clark changed out to another style of mic but he would use this 654 for several years on every show. This microphone has a stock painted tube that shows heavier wear as you can see in the pics provided. There's quite a few paint chips on the upper tube but it's free of any corrosion or dents. Electro Voice painted the mic as the all chrome bodies were not ideal for live T.V or televised events with the extreme glare the chrome would put off. The E.V badge looks pretty good with a bit lite wear and the painted lower pistol grip has very lite wear. The mesh screen looks perfect with zero dents or tarnish and a new foam pop filter was installed. This 654 is an easy 7 cosmetically on a scale of 1 - 10. The joint mechanism works perfectly with lots of tension. The 654 came with the revolutionary XLR attachment. Most mics at that time used screw on cables and this was the norm for another 20 years. The XLR pins were cleaned on the mic as well ensuring a perfect connection once an XLR cable is attached. The original brown suede E.V mic pouch is included that's in very good condition as well. I believe these were exclusive for the E.V 654 and 655C model mic only. A very cool accessory piece for resale purposes and it's a great accessory to have to keep the mic safe from damage. The 654 will screw onto any desk or floor stand you choose but again, the stand shown is provided. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
