The NIKFI KMN15 is an amazing phantom powered condenser microphone powered by a next generation preamp. The microphone is aimed at those who are looking for an alternative to the U87. Presence, Clarity and Phantom Powered simplicity a condenser of the highest quality with a quite but distinctive preamp on-board.
Who is NIKFI? They are a Moscow based institute established in the 1930 to develop film industry equipment, including microphone. They designed famous microphones produced by LOMO and Oktava and more recently Elation. Their designers have also designed for Gefell and other German audio manufactures. Until now they have never sold microphones under their own name, and this microphone represents their new mandate to provide microphones directly to customers.
The microphone itself is a next generation design that is meant to compete with the high end German microphones, but isn't a copy of them. The microphone is 100% made at the NIKFI institute in their design workshops, so production is limited.
