Video: Sound Tribe Sector 9 Discusses Syncing in a Live Setting

Post-rock dance music band Sound Tribe Sector 9 has been bringing funky electronic and instrumental music to the stage for almost 20 years now. Over their long careers, they have headlined a variety of music festivals, sold out countless theaters, and acted as activists raising money for various social causes. All the while the band has continued to evolve and experiment with their unique sound.

What makes STS9's music so different is their blending of electronic music with traditional rock instruments. Their shows take a lot of preparation, intentionally blurring the line between carefully planned sequences and improvisation.

Before the band hits the stage with their varied mix of acoustic instruments, samplers and synthesizers, they plan out the bones of their show in a single Ableton session. And as this session plays on stage, each member of the band brings in their own components to create the eclectic and energized final product.

STS9 is touring extensively throughout April, so be sure to check out their website for more information on dates, locations and tickets.
