Located in Oregon's sprawling Willamette Valley, the town of Albany is the place that boutique pedal company Pettyjohn Electronics calls home. Pettyjohn Electronics was born out of a desire to make desirable, high-quality, analog pedals that no-frills tone enthusiasts would love.
Today, Andy is digging into the seventh addition to Pettyjohn's Foundry Series, the Gold Overdrive. Inspired by classic "golden amps of Britain," the folks at Pettyjohn set out to capture Plexi-style tones, with a power section and vintage-style tone caps that help to blur the line between pedal and amplifier.
The Gold circuit provides players with the ability to dial in a wide range of driving flavors—from clean boost and gently overdriven tones to full-on distortion—with the twist of a knob. The pedal features what Pettyjohn says is its "most powerful EQ" to date, with three analog filters for maximum tone-shaping power, as well as a new parametric mids control for the boosting or cutting necessary to emulate your favorite British stack.
