Tama Drums' Sound Lab Project (S.L.P.) snares have been available for a few years, and the versatility and quality found in the S.L.P. Maple, Dynamic Bronze, and G-Bubinga iterations have proved popular with drummers.
Now, Tama has expanded the S.L.P. line into three full drum kits—the Studio Maple, the Fat Spruce, and the Dynamic Kapur.
The Studio Maple is available with all-wood hoops, which, when combined with the rounded bearing edges, allow for a warm, vintage sound.

As its name suggests, the Fat Spruce is an all-spruce-shelled kit with a fat and resonant attack. Along with the die-cast hoops, these drums promise a clear, focused attack.

Meanwhile, the Dynamic Kapur Kit promises a wide-open sound with Tama's Sound Arc Hoops controlling the overtones and focusing the attack. Tama advertises that these drums will sound great in funk, fusion, and gospel music.

Outside of the S.L.P. line, Tama's new releases also include the Club-JAM Kit—a compact set that features a 12x18-inch kick drum, a kick-mounted cymbal arm, and a small, 7x14-inch floor tom. Finishes include the Lacquer Satin Blonde or Unicolor wraps in Charcoal Mist or, as pictured below, Aqua Blue.

Additionally, Tama released the Classic Series hi-hat, snare, and tom stands, as well as a Classic kick pedal, designed like the slim, vintage hardware of the '60s and '70s.
