Shure Releases Limited Edition Pitch Black Super 55 "Elvis" Mic

Today, Shure announced the release of a black version of the iconic Super 55 Deluxe microphone, dubbed the Pitch Black Super 55 Deluxe "Elvis" Mic.

Shure Super 55 Pitch Black Edition

This microphone — which Shure describes as "a modern take on our classic design" — will be available in limited quantities through the holiday season.

The Pitch Black edition sports a new matte black finish with a foam windscreen, along with an integrated swivel mount. Like the normal Super 55 Deluxe, this mic is primarily designed for vocals with a supercardioid cartridge and 60 Hz to 17 kHz frequency response range.

The Super 55 Deluxe is based on the original Shure Model 55 Unidyne mic, which was introduced in 1939. The design reached its historic status in the hands of pop icons like Elvis Presley in the 1950s and has been updated and reissued by Shure many times in the decades since.
