Video: Roland Announces New V-Drum TD-17 Series

Musicians and industry professionals from all corners of the drum world gathered in Los Angeles this morning for an event by Roland V-Drums, dubbed "Totally Drums." Roland broadcasted the event via Facebook Live, where fans all around the world could tune in for a first look at the new Roland V-Drums TD-17 series.

The new V-Drum series is built on the TD-50 class sound engine, promising a playing experience similar to that of an acoustic kit. Players can choose from 50 premium drum kit sounds and mix and layer sounds using the sample import feature. The newly developed pads mimic the size and feel of acoustic drums while also packing a variety of helpful learning and playing tools for drummers at every level.

Beginners especially can take advantage of the guided Coach Mode built into the TD-17 module that tracks technique and helps players develop foundational skills like timing, tempo, and finding the groove. Players are also able to connect their phones to the TD-17 via Bluetooth to wirelessly stream and play along with your favorite songs and can even record the performance and listen back through headphones.

Our friend Jordan West was out on the floor at the Roland V-Drums event and was able to steal some time with the new electronic kit. Be sure to check out the full demo above, and click here to find your own TD-17 Series V-Drums on Reverb now.
