This Gibson SG Derek Trucks pays tribute to one of the most soulful slide guitarists of our time. With its warm cherry red finish, classic mahogany construction, and carefully tuned pickups, this signature guitar delivers precisely that rich, sustaining tone Derek Trucks is known for.
The SG has held a special place in rock history since its introduction in 1961, but Derek Trucks has embraced it in a unique way. Known from the Allman Brothers Band and his own Tedeschi Trucks Band, Trucks deliberately chose the SG for its light weight and excellent access to the high frets, essential for his expressive slide playing. Gibson worked closely with the guitarist to develop this signature version, tailoring every detail to his playing style and sonic preferences.
The mahogany body delivers the warm, full tone so characteristic of Trucks' sound, while the slim D neck profile feels comfortable during extended playing sessions. The specially selected humbuckers deliver just the right balance of warmth and clarity, ideal for both rhythmic chord work and the intriguing lead lines with which Trucks captivates his audiences. The decorative lyre vibrato cover also gives the guitar that authentic vintage character that perfectly suits the timeless musical style of this master guitarist.
This SG was built in 2014 and has accumulated some playwear here and there over the years. These can be found on the body, neck, and hardware, but overall the guitar is in very good condition. The guitar is exceptionally resonant and is an instrument that effortlessly draws out musical inspiration. Listen to our Fellow Rowdy's demo below and prepare to be enchanted!
