Only the mixer part is working.

Like all 244 whose tape section has not been refurbished, belts are now melted goo and it has to have the classic two belts+pinch roller+idler tires change done. (55 euros shipped for a good quality set)

So it's only for those who want to use the mixer part (or intend to do the tape section refurb).

It's individual inserts, used as direct outs, allow to use each channel independantly to record to a DAW and benefit from the preamps and the two semi parametric eq (low to low mids, and mids to hi), which are really musical sounding (buzzword i know, but it's true). Very easy to tonally shape your recs on the spot in a pleasing way. nothing harsh sounding here.Difficult to make it sound bad. Either you plug a mic, or an hi Z instrument (guitar, bass, rhodes), it sounds really good and full, with no noisefloor.Neat !

I've tested the mixer part and surprinsingly, pots aren't even scratchy, after all those years

The only flaw is the low/low mid eq on channel 1 which doesn't work (pot is broken, so it won't work unless you change it (available at tascamninja)).This will be your channel with only one eq.

Cosmetical condition is the reason i didn't went the refurb route. tape door lock is broken, so tape door remains open. Regarding transport buttons, play and stop will be usable (they do activate their switch beneath), but some plastic legs are broken (very common on those), so they are wiggly.

Eventually plastic is a bit broken around channel 3 pan. (pot still perfectly usable but a bit warped) and backlight of vu-meter 1 is out.

So, to sum up, as a mixer it works fine (except one eq on channel one) but the machine is definitely not the prettiest. I've described it thoroughly, cause i don't like bullshit, and you know what you're potentially buying.

I've checked electronics inside, and everything is healthy. just got to remove some of the remaining melted belt black goo on the tape pulleys, even if i already removed some ; )
