[Features]
Lewis & Dürk is a collaborative brand between Steven W. Lewis, a horn maker from Chicago, USA, and Dietmar Dürk, a master craftsman from Germany. It was born from the combination of the skills, experience, and manufacturing philosophies of two masters who have gained experience in different countries. Steven W. Lewis has experience as a horn player, and after working at the Schilke factory, he learned brass instrument restoration and manufacturing techniques from craftsmen involved in horn making in Chicago. Dietmar Dürk, on the other hand, is a craftsman who trained at the prestigious Alexander company in Germany, obtained master craftsman qualifications, and then established his own workshop. The LDx5 is a full double horn born from the combined backgrounds of these two individuals. While its appearance and structure follow the traditional form of a horn, the tools and processes used in its manufacture were devised specifically for this project, with an emphasis on minimizing stress on the materials. The aim is for the instrument to respond naturally from the very first note, without hindering the player's breath. The sound has a smooth attack, the pitch center is easy to grasp, and it possesses an open and clear sound. Rather than forcing the sound, it feels as if the instrument responds flexibly to the amount of breath put in. This instrument features a 310mm medium throat yellow brass hand-hammered bell. The nuances unique to a hand-hammered bell, combined with the responsiveness characteristic of an unlacquered bell, create a rich yet vivid sound.

The density of handcrafted work, unlike mass-produced items, and a natural response that does not hinder the player's expression. This is a highly refined full double horn that truly embodies the philosophy of the Lewis & Durk brand.
