This sleek 2022 Schecter Ultra serves up a lightweight, comfortable, Firebird-inspired offset shape that balances beautifully and feels great whether you’re sitting or standing.
The 1.25-inch-thick mahogany body weighs just 7 pounds, while the nicely sculpted neck heel and body shape make upper-fret access effortless. The thin-profile mahogany neck features carbon-reinforcement rods for added stability and excellent vibrational transfer. Unplugged, the Ultra resonates nicely and feels wonderfully lively. The bound 22-fret ebony fretboard has the high level of fretwork we expect from Schecter, and the Ultra’s weight, balance, and neck feel add up to a very enjoyable playing experience.
The Schecter Pasadena neck pickup leans PAF, with Alnico V construction and roughly 8.5K DC resistance. It’s warm, punchy, and loaded with vintage-style feel. The Sunset Strip bridge pickup adds extra muscle with a ceramic magnet for a great blend of clarity and attack, without the stuffy midrange bump that can afflict some overwound Alnico pickups. Add some gain, and the bridge pickup dishes out tight, harmonically detailed crunch that stays evenly balanced across the spectrum.
For players willing to step away from the traditional single-cut paradigm, the Schecter Ultra is a comfortable, great-looking alternative with the brightness and articulation of an SG, plus much better balance and ergonomics. For classic rock, pop, and alternative, it’s a fantastic blend of looks, tone, feel, and value.
