For many guitar players, the Marshall JCM800 2203 is the rock amp.

Offered here is a particularly special example: a very clean 1987 Marshall JCM800 2203, signed by none other than Jim Marshall in 1997 — exactly ten years after the amp left the factory and eight years before his passing.

What makes this amplifier especially appealing is not just the signature, but also its condition. It remains remarkably clean, bordering on collector-grade territory. Unlike guitars, where pristine condition can sometimes mean an instrument never had the chance to develop its voice, a clean amplifier simply tells you it was treated with care. And this one certainly does not suffer from a lack of character.

Quite the opposite.

This amp sounds like a rock album. Powerful, alive, dynamic, and unapologetically direct. The famous 2203 recipe is all here: aggressive midrange, tight low end, and the kind of authoritative punch that helped define rock guitar tones throughout the 1980s and well into the 1990s.

Despite its reputation as a high-gain machine, there is more to a great 2203 than overdrive. This example delivers excellent clean and edge-of-breakup tones and takes pedals beautifully. In many ways, that flexibility is part of what made the model such a studio and touring staple.

Being a 1987 amplifier, it also features the factory D.I. output. By modern recording standards it is fairly basic, but it remains a useful feature for recording, reamping, or simply having additional options available.

As a Lead Master Volume model, it is also far more manageable than the non-master-volume Marshalls that came before it — something many players increasingly appreciate today.

Bottom line: you are looking at a collector-grade rock machine, signed by the man himself. A fantastic sounding JCM800 with condition, character, and a special connection to Marshall history.
