For sale is this very nice Made In Japan (MIJ) Squier precision bass neck from the infamous JV series in the early 1980’s. Manufactured in 1982, with a neck width at the nut of 42 mm. The neck is in great shape, has a stunning dark rosewood fretboard and is loaded with tuners and string tree. The frets have plenty of life in them, the back of the neck has just couple of minor scratches. The neck plays smooth and fast. The neck is straight, the truss rod is functional and moves freely in both directions. The tuners and the string container are included in this sale.

Thickness at the first fret: 22 mm.

The JV serial instruments (both Fender and Squier) were the first Fender branded instruments made outside the USA, built to an incredible standard by the famed Fujigen Gakki plant in Japan. Fender had increasing quality issues after the sale to CBS in 1964, and by the late 70s instruments rolling out of Fullerton that were pretty hit and miss. The first batch of MIJ Fenders and Squiers were met with elation in the USA by Fender execs: these were the best made Fender instruments since the mid-sixties. The very first JV instruments were completed in April 1982. All of that back story makes this neck historically significant and increasingly collectable.
