A true mid-’80s JCM800, this 1985 2204 is everything you’d want from one of Marshall’s most iconic circuits — raw, punchy, and unapologetically aggressive.

This example retains its original transformers and choke, and remains completely unmodded, delivering the classic JCM800 tone exactly as intended. Tight low end, cutting upper mids, and that unmistakable British grind that defined countless rock and metal records.

The 50-watt 2204 is renowned for hitting its sweet spot earlier than its 100W sibling, making it far more usable in real-world settings while still delivering plenty of volume and headroom. Clean up with your guitar’s volume, or push it hard for rich, harmonically saturated drive.

Freshly serviced by ex-Marshall senior engineer Dave Wittering (Prestige Amp Servicing), this amp is in excellent working order, fully tested, and ready to go — free from the usual issues associated with long-stored vintage gear.

Chassis: 

Fully original Drake iron set, including:

• 1202-324 mains transformer
• 784-139 output transformer
• T100 1471-263 choke

(All correct for the period and a big part of the classic JCM800 sound.)

• V1 valve socket replaced
• V1 cathode bypass cap
• C4 & C5 caps replaced
• All pots replaced
• Input sockets replaced
• Speaker output sockets replaced
• Replaced OEM Marshall ECC83's
• Set up with Bias to correct spec
• Full health check and component test
• PAT Tested.

Pre Amp Valves: ECC83S - 12AX7 - V1 TUNG-SOL(Russia), V2 Genalex(China), V3 SOVTEK(Russia).

Power Valves: Marshall Branded EL34's

Cosmetic: All original. Including the head shell, tolex, feet and hardware.

Mains voltage selector - 110v, 120v & 240v - so can be used worldwide.
