Vintage 1960s Selmer Thunderbird 50 MKII Valve Amplifier & Cab *EX THE BACHELORS

*’THE BACHELORS’ CON CLUSKEY 1960s SELMER THUNDERBIRD COMBO & EXTENSION* It is with my greatest excitement I am posting this amplifier for sale. Recently I had a call from Con’s sons to say they were sorting through their fathers gear since he sadly passed away with COVID complications in April 2022. I went to meet them both and both were larger than life people and incredibly friendly and kind! I heard stories of their childhood with Con, amongst other stories. I walked away from that meet with a smile, and this Selmer too! Originally purchased by (or should I say given to) Con by Selmer themselves back when The Bachelors were up there with The Beatles. It is an incredibly rare combo AND extension cabinet that have been together since new. The Bachelors were a ‘staple of the 1960s pop scene with songs such as Diane and I Believe, in 1964 they were outsold in Britain only by The Beatles’ and they were the first Irish band to get a number 1! The amplifier itself is in great condition, completely original inside with the original Mullard valves, footswitch, and Selmer labelled Goodmans 12" speakers. It works well and has recently been serviced by my tech. The extension cabinet has it's original cover and 18" Audiom 91 speaker inside. This amplifier is a piece of history, and a heck of an amplifier at that. Find another!
