Huge hum-canceling tone for your Jazzmaster. “ThunderMaster” - portmanteau of “Thunderbird” and “Jazzmaster”: essentially Thunderbird bass humbuckers made a hair smaller to fit in Jazzmaster pickup covers. This is about as close as you can get to Jazzmaster tone while canceling 60 cycle hum… really close to a Jazzmaster tone. People have been asking me for a hum-canceling Jazzmaster pickup for years but I was so resistant because they’ve always sounded bad. Stacked single coils sound terrible and putting a PAF style humbucker in a Jazzmaster pickup cover isn’t a Jazzmaster tone… just play a different guitar. So I was working on the new Alternate Dimension Thunderbird bass pickups, and I realized that I could easy rework it to fit in a Jazzmaster pickup cover. These are fantastic!! These are really close to a Jazzmaster tone, for a humbucker. Comparatively, they have a bigger tone and more bass response. But since there isn’t any steel polepieces, the chime and attack is much closer to a Jazzmaster tone than other hum-canceling Jazzmaster pickups I’ve heard. I’m really happy to offer these. Still though, if “Jazzmaster tone” is your top priority, go with my Alternate Dimension Fat Jazzmaster set or Signature Jazzmaster set; but if you need to eliminate 60 cycle hum or if you want strength in your Jazzmaster tone, you’ll absolutely love these ThunderMaster pickups.

Electronics are 500k CTS pots, 0.022uf Sprague Orange Drop capacitors, and Switchcraft toggle switch and output jack. I can use 1meg pots if you want to get closer to the Jazzmaster surf tone.

This pickguard is made to only fit Fender Jazzmasters; we don’t have a source for anodized pickguards for Squier Jazzmasters. If you would like to have your Squier pickguard wired up, you can ship it to us and we’ll make a custom listing for you. Just message me beforehand.

This listing is for a solid color pickguard such as three ply black, matte black, three ply cream, or parchment. Let me know which one you want.

All Stonewall Pickups are hand-wound (scatter-wound). When a coil is machine-wound, each turn of the wire lies directly next to the previous turn. This creates a muddy tone. If you've never owned hand-wound pickups, you are in for a treat: the clarity of tone and frequency response really comes through. Very open sounding with great string-to-string definition. Stonewall Pickups also have unmatched dynamics.

All Stonewall Pickups are vacuum wax potted to prevent microphonics. If you would prefer your pickups to not be potted (noisy but my favorite for recording), be sure to mention it when we email you regarding your pickup options.
