The Marshall YJM100 is the signature amp tailor-made for the exceptional Swedish guitarist Yngwie J. Malmsteen and was released in 2011 as a special edition of only 1,500 units worldwide. Building on the legendary 1959 Marshall Plexi Super Lead Top, the YJM100 expands the traditional 100-watt Plexi concept with numerous modern features specifically tailored to Yngwie’s stage performance. The result was one of the most elaborate signature amps Marshall has ever offered!

In classic Marshall tradition, four EL34 power tubes, together with three ECC83 preamp tubes, deliver the open, dynamic, and harmonically rich British tube sound. Each of the two channels features separate high and low inputs as well as its own volume controls and can be combined using a patch cable to create the characteristic Plexi blend sounds. From dynamic, almost clean sounds to punchy vintage crunch and singing lead tones, the amplifier responds with remarkable immediacy to your playing style and volume adjustments on the guitar.

A special feature is the built-in Yngwie Malmsteen Custom Boost. Instead of having to connect an external booster before the amp to achieve Malmsteen’s signature lead sound, the corresponding additional gain stage can be activated directly on the amplifier. This transforms the classic Plexi foundation sound into a significantly hotter, more compressed lead sound with long sustain and pronounced cut-through. The switchable, built-in noise gate also enables exceptionally controlled and precise playing, even at higher gain settings.

Despite its design and size, however, the YJM100 is surprisingly well-suited for live use. The power attenuation allows you to run the power amp at full power and then continuously reduce the actual output power down to approximately 0.1 watts. This lets you take advantage of the coveted saturation of a working EL34 power amp even at significantly lower volumes—for example, in your living room or studio. It also features a switchable effects loop and digital reverb.

The offered half stack set includes the matching Marshall 1960AHW Handwired 4x12“ Slant Cabinet. The cab is part of Marshall’s high-quality Handwired Reissue Series and is equipped with four Celestion G12H30 12” speakers. With a power handling capacity of 120 watts and an impedance of 16 ohms, it is an excellent match for the YJM100 and delivers the big, three-dimensional 4x12 sound with a punchy bass foundation, prominent mids, and the characteristic British treble response.

As a special edition limited to 1,500 units, the Marshall YJM 100 Yngwie Malmsteen Signature head is a rare find.

The amp is in excellent, original collector’s condition and works perfectly. The amplifier comes from a first-hand collector and has very low hours of use. Visually, there is hardly any visible wear (see photos).

The amp has been thoroughly tested, and I (a longtime guitar teacher) will ship it, upon request, fully insured and carefully packaged as freight on a pallet for €199.99 within Germany. Shipping outside Germany is available upon request.
