This unit includes the optional headphone and footswitch features, which add $60 to the retail price when purchased new.

The attenuator itself is completely passive. The pictured power cord supplies power only to the relay that controls the optional footswitch function. Any standard latching footswitch can be used; no footswitch is included.

One of the great things about these Weber attenuators is that you can use virtually any speaker-impedance combination, provided the attenuator’s impedance selector is set to match the amplifier and the attenuator is not placed in bypass.

At maximum attenuation, it can also be used for silent playing through headphones connected to the rear panel. The headphone output has its own separate volume control. There is also a line output for recording.

This is a great attenuator. I upgraded to a Weber 100-watt model after my amp collection grew to include more powerful amplifiers. I used this one with both a Champ and a Princeton, and it worked extremely well.

With the treble-boost circuit engaged, I find Weber attenuators to be about as transparent as you can get for quiet playing. Another pleasant surprise was that it also reduced a considerable amount of the amplifiers’ inherent background noise while in use.
