Up for sale, a 1993 Epiphone Emperor-J in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and outfitted with an upgraded humbucker pair. This Epiphone is a premium iteration of the Emperor platform, produced in small quantities at the Terada factory in Japan (the "J" in the model name signifies Japan Domestic) and rarely seen outside its country of origin. This particular model has been voiced with a Seymour Duncan SH-1 ‘59 PAF at the neck and Gibson Burstbucker Type 2 PAF at the bridge.
Tonewoods include a parallel tonebar braced spruce top, maple back and rims, and a three-piece maple neck capped by a bound ebony fingerboard, offering ample acoustic projection. With a full 17" lower bout, 3" body depth, and 25 1/2" scale length, this Epiphone has a very full, balanced natural tone with exquisite midrange and dry percussive cut. The upgraded Seymour Duncan SH-1 PAF neck pickup was designed in the spirit of the original PAF, with singing sustain, wound to deliver full-sounding chords and midrange-forward attack. The Gibson Burstbucker Type 2 at the bridge is a medium output pickup with Alnico II magnet construction, offering enhanced highs, great warmth and excellent sensitivity to picking dynamics. This Emperor-J weighs 7lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-52 roundwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
