The Catalinbread Dreamcoat and Skewer is a limited-edition guitar pedal box set inspired by the classic 1960s and 1970s hard rock tones of guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. It pairs a reel-to-reel preamp recreation with a custom silicon treble booster.
The Dreamcoat Preamp
Source: Recreates the analog preamp specifications of the Aiwa TP-1011 open-reel tape deck used by Blackmore.
Controls: Includes saturation, master volume, clean blend, and a "Freak" frequency-boost knob targeting specific mid/high frequencies.
Tonal Range: Ranges from touch-sensitive classic rock crunch to sputtery, console-style saturation and fuzz.
The Skewer Treble Booster
Source: Based on the vintage Hornby-Skewes silicon treble booster used to push dark-sounding amplifiers into bright, screaming bite.
Controls: Features Boost, Skew (adjusts frequency response from tight treble boost to full-range boost), and Extra (extracts additional gain from the silicon transistor).
Stacking: Designed to run seamlessly into the Dreamcoat or function as a standalone boost
