Custom Telecaster Mad Cat Partscaster – Quilted Purple Burst • Hipshot Locking Tuners • Lace Chrome Burner • Vintage Gold Foil w/hardshell case

This was originally a Mad Cat tribute Telecaster. I bought it for my son‘s birthday only to find out the day before it arrived that he wasn’t a fan of Telecasters (I guess I will still keep him). But instead of returning it like a normal person, I decided to have some fun with it. The only thing that remains of the original guitar is the mahogany body. Everything else is brand new, except the vintage Japanese gold foil pickup. The guitar has a loose “tree of life“ fame within it here and there. But nothing overwhelming and everything like that can easily be removed.

I had no idea what to expect by combining a Lace pickup and a vintage Japanese pickup, but I’m genuinely delighted at how good it sounds in the range it gives!

The Lace Chrome Burner delivers a clear, articulate neck tone with surprising sparkle, while the vintage gold foil bridge pickup has that raw, lively character that vintage Japanese pickups are known for. Together they cover everything from warm cleans to gritty garage rock and indie tones.

Harness information:

Premium Bill Lawrence 5-Way Tele Harness

This harness fundamentally expands what a Telecaster can do by giving it several genuinely useful sounds instead of “filler” switch positions.

Switching positions

Position 1 – Standard Bridge

• Traditional Tele bridge sound
• Punchy, articulate, cutting

Position 2 – Neck + Bridge (Out of Phase)

• Quacky, vocal quality
• Almost a “cocked wah” sound
• Seller emphasizes it’s still very usable and not the thin, lifeless out-of-phase tone many people dislike

Position 3 – Standard Neck

• Normal Tele neck pickup

Position 4 – Neck + Bridge (Parallel)

• Classic Tele middle position
• Balanced and open

Position 5 – Neck (Tight Low-End Mode)
Instead of simply repeating the neck pickup, this mode modifies it to:

• Reduce bass by roughly 10%
• Produce a cleaner tone
• Tighten the low end
• Sit better in a mix
• Improve rhythm clarity and recording

Components used

• Bourns D-Series 250K Pro Audio pots
• Orange Drop–style 0.047 µF capacitor
• Treble bleed circuit (keeps highs when rolling volume down)
• PureTone output jack
• Oak Grigsby 5-way switch
• Hand-wired, point-to-point construction

The guitar has been professionally assembled, carefully set up, and plays comfortably with low action. The stainless frets and Hipshot locking tuners make it an excellent player as well as a conversation piece.

This is not a factory Fender—it’s a thoughtfully assembled custom partscaster built for someone who appreciates guitars that stand apart from the crowd. You wont run into another one that looks quite like it.
