Basically Brand New – 2025 Gibson Hummingbird Original

In January 2025, I set out to find the best-sounding Gibson Hummingbird I could find. I had dealers from all over the country send me videos, including Fuller Guitars, Wildwood Guitars, Chicago Music Exchange, and several others. I bought multiple Hummingbirds, returned the ones that didn't meet my expectations, and finally found the one.

I purchased this absolutely gorgeous guitar from Vince at Haggerty's Music in Rapid City, South Dakota, on February 13, 2025. Since then, it has spent all of its time in its case. It is essentially brand new.

I played drums professionally in bands throughout the 1970s and 1980s and have always loved the Gibson Hummingbird. Over the past decade, I've owned at least two dozen Hummingbirds in my search for the perfect one. Without question, this is the best-sounding Hummingbird I've ever owned.

Not only does it have exceptional tone, but the fit and finish are absolutely flawless. It has a rich, full voice with outstanding tonal balance, excellent projection, and plays like a dream thanks to a professional setup.

Unfortunately, shortly after purchasing it, I underwent surgery on my left thumb. My surgeon expected a full recovery within six months, but a year and a half later my thumb still doesn't function the way it should. As much as I love this guitar, it's time for it to go to someone who will truly enjoy playing it instead of watching it sit in its case.
