2. PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The Marantz 2275 is a 2-channel stereo receiver produced from about 1974 to 1977, rated at 75 watts per channel RMS into 8 ohms. It combines a sensitive AM/FM tuner with Marantz's flywheel gyro-touch tuning, bass, mid and treble tone controls, and a full set of inputs for a turntable and two tape decks.

This unit has a black faceplate and comes with a WC-22 walnut wood case.

It has been inspected, cleaned, cosmetically refinished and tested by HQaudios, and is ready to be the centerpiece of a vintage stereo system.

3. HQAUDIOS RESTORATION & TESTING

Before Restoration

This Marantz 2275 was carefully inspected upon arrival to evaluate its mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic condition.

The power supply, amplifier, preamp and tuner sections, the dial and meter lamps and all controls were checked under power. The electrolytic capacitors were measured against their rated values (within 10% tolerance), and the switches, potentiometers, input/output jacks, speaker terminals and power cord were inspected.

Inspection Findings: All front-panel controls – speaker selector, bass, treble, volume, balance, selector and tuning knobs and the power switch – were checked and operating. The VU, FM/AM, stereo and input indicator lamps were working, and the power cord, fuse, antenna terminals, speaker A/B outputs, heat sinks and jacks were checked. Cosmetically, the aluminum faceplate, knobs and jacks needed cleaning, the wood case showed scratches, and the metal top cover and bottom plate had scratches.

The inspection results were used to determine the work required for this specific unit.

During Restoration

Based on the inspection results, this Marantz 2275 was serviced and refinished according to HQaudios' technical standards while preserving its original design and sound.

  • Aluminum Faceplate: The aluminum faceplate was cleaned of dirt and grime.
  • Wood Case: The WC-22 wood case was re-veneered where needed and the scratches were touched up.
  • Metal Cover & Bottom Plate: Scratches on the metal top cover and bottom plate were touched up with black paint.
  • Jacks: The input/output jacks were cleaned of dirt and oxidation.
  • Knobs: The knobs were cleaned.
  • Cleaning & Detailing: The chassis and front panel were cleaned and detailed.

After Restoration / Final Testing

Once service was completed, the receiver underwent comprehensive testing under real operating conditions.

  • Amplifier: Both channels were tested with speakers connected on the Main and Remote outputs.
  • Tuner: FM and AM reception and the stereo indicator were checked.
  • Inputs & Controls: Phono, Aux and Tape inputs, tone, balance and volume controls were checked.
  • Final QC: Only after completing HQaudios' service and testing process was the receiver approved and prepared for its next owner.
