Personal Thoughts:
This is a beautifully executed ’61 Les Paul SG Reissue and one of the purest vintage-inspired guitars in the Gibson Custom range. Heritage Cherry is the definitive finish for the model, allowing the mahogany grain to remain visible while perfectly complementing the cream binding, black long pickguard and aged nickel hardware. The sharply bevelled body and slim early-’60s styling give it a particularly elegant appearance that feels distinct from later SG Standards.
The specification closely follows the original 1961 formula, with solid mahogany construction, a slim neck profile, long-tenon joint and hide-glue fit. The unpotted Alnico III Custombuckers provide an open and dynamic vintage-style voice, with plenty of clarity, upper-mid bite and natural harmonic response. Its lightweight double-cutaway design also offers effortless upper-fret access and a very immediate playing feel. A superb Gibson Custom reissue that combines historic accuracy with the versatility and comfort needed for regular stage or studio use.
