For sale is my Made in Japan Fender JV Modified '50s Telecaster in the coveted White Blonde finish with the factory gold anodised pickguard. It’s an absolutely beautiful instrument with superlative build quality (as expected of MIJ guitars) and easily of professional standard.
Condition:
The condition is excellent, with only a few minute dings (see photos) and very little fret wear. There's no cracking to the heel at all, which often plagues bolt-on guitars like Fenders.
Upgrades & Specifications:
I’ve carried out a number of high-end, player-focused upgrades over the last couple of years:
- Pickups: Custom hand-wound set from Curley Oak Pickups in Wales (Neck: 7.56 kΩ / Bridge: 7.61 kΩ). These are a massive step up over the factory Japanese pickups – far richer, more articulate, and balanced (full specs shown in photos).
- Bridge & Hardware: Upgraded to a Gotoh BS-TC1S In-Tune bridge with compensated brass saddles for spot-on intonation and cut sides for palm-muting comfort. I've also swapped out the knurled knobs, control plate, and switch tip.
- Electronics & Wiring: Full wiring harness overhaul using premium Oak Grigsby, Switchcraft, and CTS components (250k "Vintage" Audio Taper pots, 0.047µF @ 100v cap).
- 4-Way Switch Mod: Rewired with a 4-way switch giving you a thick, humbucker/P90-style in-series 4th position alongside classic Tele tones. (Note: The original push-pull phase switch was removed as part of this loom upgrade).
- Jack Socket: Upgraded to a solid, screwed-in Electrosocket-style cup (no more loose Tele jack cups).
- Shielding: The pickup cavity has been shielded to reduce hum.
Original Parts & Extras:
I have all the original parts (Fender bridge, original hardware, control plate, knobs, and electronics harness) included with the sale. I unfortunately do not have the stock pickups, but the Curley Oak set is a huge upgrade in every metric! (If I track down the original pickups in my studio down the line, I'll happily give the buyer first option on them).
What's Included:
The guitar will ship securely packed inside its original Fender Deluxe Gig Bag and boxed thoroughly for maximum protection during transit.
More than happy to take additional photographs or answer any questions if you want to see something specific.
Please note that the instrument is sans strings in the photo because I wanted to show the fretboard, saddles, bridge and frets clearly. Before it's shipped, I'll fit a new set of gauge 10s and give it a set up so it's playable upon arrival!
