This 1966 Epiphone Riviera E360TD is in amazingly clean, original condition - a real stunner!  It is an interesting piece in that it has a serial number from 1965 on the headstock and a 1966 serial on the label.  The number is almost the same in both places, with the first digit being 3 on the headstock and 4 on the label.  I believe this is why it was factory marked with a "2" on the headstock - a second.  Someone either messed up the headstock serial or the label.  The one thing that points to the guitar being a 66 rather than a 65 is the three-layer pickguard, which began in '66.  The pot codes are from 1965.  The 1 9/16" nut and chrome hardware would have been mid-'65 specs.  So, I'm going with this being a 1966 guitar.

The Riviera isa thinline semi-hollow built on a fully bound maple body measuring 1-3/4" deep, fitted with a pair of Gibson patent-number sticker mini-humbuckers — the neck reading 7.28k, the bridge at 7.81k. The Epiphone Frequensator trapeze tailpiece keeps string tension relaxed and contributes to the instrument's characteristic warmth and softness of attack.  The Riviera was Epiphone's answer to the Gibson ES-335 after Gibson acquired Epiphone in 1957 and began producing Epiphone models at the Kalamazoo factory. The E360TD designation indicates the thinline, double-cutaway, double-pickup configuration. The potentiometer manufacturer code 137 identifies CTS as the maker; the date code reads 65 with two other digits covered in solder, placing production in 1965.

There are no structural repairs, no neck repairs, no fretboard repairs, and no body repairs, and no issues whatsoever. Finish is original and in excellent condition. Frets are in very good condition. Electronics are fully original: original solder joints, original wiring, original pots, original output jack, original switch. The case is original and in excellent condition with no odor. A leather strap is included.
