A Martin 000 is distinguished by its compact size, graceful contours and outstanding playability. With this 1937 000-28, however, the Martin Custom Shop took it a step further by giving this legendary instrument a beautiful “Ambertone Burst” finish and “Stage 1” aging. The 1937 models remain cornerstones of guitar craftsmanship to this day and continue to set the standard for acoustic guitar tones. Based on these originals, this 000-28 was crafted with a body made from premium-grade East Indian rosewood featuring full hot-glue joints, a thin Adirondack spruce top for perfect resonance and the authentic finish formula of the ’37 models. However, the authentic vintage look is achieved primarily through the aged “Vintage Low Gloss” finish, which — thanks to the use of vintage pigments and a patented, authentic lacquer formula — gives this guitar a beautifully matte finish. “Stage 1 Aging” means that you can certainly see the signs of age in the form of countless hairline cracks, but without any additional “damage.” ...and to meet today’s expectations, the guitar has been given a single modern update: an adjustable truss rod, allowing for individual adjustments according to personal preferences. To round out the perfect overall look a subtle “Antique White” binding, Waverly tuners, beautiful “Authentic 1937 Diamond & Square Long Pattern” fretboard inlays and an extremely comfortable “Genuine Mahogany” neck with a “Modified V with 1930s-Style Heel” profile have been added. The guitar’s sound is clearly defined with a beautiful balance between treble, midrange and bass: pronounced midrange, sparkling, radiant treble and well-defined bass. At first glance it may seem understated, but it possesses an enormous sense of three-dimensionality and depth. This soundmighty gem, which we can offer you except for minimal signs of wear in top condition, is not only ideal for fingerpicking but definitely shines when strumming as well.
