J.L. Hoffman Single Cut SCH2 — Handbuilt Custom 6-String Electric

Built in my shop in Severance, Colorado, the Single Cut SCH2 is a completely original design — conceived, engineered, and handcrafted by me from the ground up. I'm an electrical engineer and lifelong player, and every decision on this guitar was made by ear first, spec second.

Body & Construction

• Figured Claro Walnut top — dramatic, high-contrast grain, no two alike

• Chambered Sapele body — lightweight and acoustically lively with natural resonance you can feel before you plug in

• 25" scale length

• Deep lower cutaway with ergonomic contours for full upper-fret access

Neck

• 5-piece multi-laminate with Purpleheart , Wenge, and figured Maple — built for long-term stability and visual impact

• Indian Rosewood fretboard

• 22 frets with meticulous fretwork and a full professional setup out of the shop'

Electronics & Hardware

• two hand-wound pickups, overwound by me for hotter output — the set is similar to a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and Jazz in the Neck, but I wanted it slightly more clarity so they are a tad less hot.

• 2 Vol / 2 Tone with 3-way switching - Similar to LP wiring, but bridge volume is closest to hum bucker

• Gotoh locking tuners & VS100N bridge

• Dunlop strap locks

Every guitar I build gets played for a couple of hours. This one has killer action and those pickups are some of the best I've done.
