Franzke K-5 Mandolin.
I built this mandolin in 2023 as a demo/show piece. It has been played by me and by visitors to my booth at festivals, still in excellent condition
Patterned loosely after the body shape of the Kay mandolins from the 40's-60's, but this is essentially an F-5 with the scroll cut off. Same bracing and body shape of the F-5 up to the scroll.
Solid hand-carved spruce top, hand-carved maple back, maple sides and neck, ebony fretboard, ebony/rosewood peghead overlay, two-way truss adjustable rod, James engraved nickel tailpiece, Cumberland Acoustic ebony bridge, Golden Age nickel tuners with black buttons, and Crossrock hardshell brown "leather-like" case. Comes with the Tone-Gard on the back.
Nitro gloss finish with unfinished "Speed" neck for ease of playing
Very little playwear on the back of the unfinished neck, but it feels very smooth.
There is a slight tear in the front of the case.
Great action, medium neck feel, not skinny or chunky. Wide nut (1 and 7/32") (1.2")
