The DRV2 is the new standard-enclosure version of 1981 Inventions' most classic release — the DRV, rebuilt from the ground up and still handmade in the USA.

Matthew Hoopes spent more than a year reworking the V2 circuit. Rather than copying the original exactly, he made deliberate changes — and calls the result the best guitar tone he's ever had. It's now a surface-mount (SMT) build, redesigned and engineered by John Snyder of Electronic Audio Experiments (who also designed the LVL).

The low end has far more thump, palm mutes are deeper and thicker, and there's a real fatness to the whole voice. The noise floor is much quieter than the original while keeping the character of a true distortion. The CUT control has been revoiced and is noticeably less bright — you can roll it back below halfway without drowning in high end.

At its core it's still the standard DRV: two circuits in one box, a distortion and a preamp boost. Runs on 9V or 18V from a standard Boss-style supply (isolated recommended). No battery clip or power supply included.

This exact unit: DRV2 No.3 — white enclosure, three coloured stripes, clear knobs.
