A rare, collector-grade Fender Japan Telecaster from the highly regarded FujiGen era.
This is a circa 1993–94 Fender Japan TL52-65 CCB ’52 Reissue Telecaster in the elusive Charcoal Burst finish. The neck heel and body pocket carry matching model stamps—“TL52CCB” and “TL-52CCB”—while the Made in Japan O034235 serial number corresponds to the 1993–94 production period.
The CCB, or Charcoal Burst, finish is one of the more unusual and seldom-seen finishes from Fender Japan. Rather than a conventional dark sunburst, it uses a translucent “toasted” treatment that brings out warm amber, caramel and brown streaks in the wood. Each example has its own character, and this particular guitar displays exceptionally attractive grain across the front, back and sides.
The model itself is already difficult to find, but encountering one preserved in this condition is considerably rarer.
This guitar is remarkably close to mint condition, with almost no visible evidence of regular playing use. The body retains a deep, clean gloss, with the edges, back and sides remaining exceptionally well preserved. The neck, fingerboard and headstock are equally clean, and the frets show virtually no visible wear. Chrome hardware also remains bright and attractive.
Only extremely minor traces from age, storage or careful handling may be found under close inspection. For a Japanese-made Fender that is now more than 30 years old, this is an outstanding survivor and a particularly appealing example for a collector.
At approximately 3.14 kg / 6.92 lb, it is also unusually lightweight and comfortable. The maple neck, black single-ply pickguard, vintage-style tuners, string-through three-saddle bridge and traditional two-single-coil layout preserve the classic early-1950s Telecaster character. Expect clear note separation, immediate attack, crisp bridge twang and a warm, rounded neck voice.
The neck and body stamps correspond correctly, and the hardware and pickup configuration are consistent with the original model specification. No obvious modification has been identified during our inspection.
