Maestro Fuzz-Tone FZ-M 2022 - Present - Yellow Graphic
I can't list it as brand new, as I'm not a dealer or manufacturer...
BUT / HOWEVER - I have never even opened the box since I received it. I know, I'm a terrible guitar player and owner. Check out the photos, I'm only showing the unopened box. I've never seen the actual pedal, so whoever gets this one gets to be the first person to lay eyes on it and play it. Have fun!
The Maestro Fuzz-Tone FZ-M is an all-analog, standard-sized pedal designed by Gibson to capture the vibe of the 1962 original while offering modern performance upgrades. It features top-mounted jacks to save board space, standard 9V power options, and true bypass switching. A detailed breakdown of its two distinct circuits, physical hardware, and controls clarifies how it bridges vintage and modern tones:
Dual-Mode Voice Toggle - The core feature of the FZ-M is its "two-pedals-in-one" toggle switch:
- Classic Mode: Replicates the original, raspy 1960s FZ-1 circuit. It delivers a heavily compressed, buzzy tone with a thin, bright character that intentionally behaves like a horn or saxophone. [1, 2]
- Modern Mode: Switches over to a thicker, warmer fuzz. It features a prominent midrange and offers significantly more volume headroom and bass response suited for heavy contemporary rock. [1, 2]
Intuitive Controls - The FZ-M utilizes three simple dials to shape the output:
- Attack: Sets the exact amount of fuzz distortion and clipping.
- Tone: Acts as a low-pass filter to alter the timbre. It can transform your signal from a bright, cutting buzz down to a warm, wooly grind.
- Level: Adjusts the overall output volume. It is engineered with plenty of boost capability to push your amplifier way past unity gain.
The housing pays visual homage to Maestro's heritage while using a rugged aluminum shell:
- Wedge Shape: Features a sloped profile with brushed aluminum decals that echo the vintage aesthetic.
- Illuminated Logo: The classic "three bugles" logo lights up with bright red, yellow, and blue LEDs when the foot switch is engaged, serving as a highly visible status indicator.
- Top-Mounted I/O: Placed completely on the front face of the pedal to maximize your pedalboard layouts.
