1960 Gibson GA-8 Gibsonette Tube Combo Amp • Serviced • Jensen 10” • USA
A fantastic example of one of Gibson’s most underrated vintage tube amplifiers. This c.1960 Gibson GA-8 Gibsonette delivers the warm, rich cleans and thick, harmonically complex overdrive that have made these small Gibson combos favorites among recording musicians and vintage amp enthusiasts.
The GA-8 is unlike most low-wattage amps of its era, utilizing Gibson’s unusual parallel single-ended 6V6 output section rather than a traditional push-pull design. The result is a touch-sensitive, articulate amplifier with a unique voice that sits somewhere between a Fender Champ and a Princeton while retaining its unmistakable Gibson character.
This example has been professionally serviced by Baker Amp Repair this year and is ready to plug in and enjoy.

Condition
Overall, this amplifier is in very good vintage condition.
The cabinet shows honest cosmetic wear throughout including light staining, edge wear, and minor scuffs consistent with a well-cared-for 65-year-old amplifier. The cream tolex has aged beautifully and still presents extremely well. The grille cloth remains clean and attractive, and the control panel graphics are nicely preserved.
Mechanically and electronically, the amp has recently been serviced by Baker Amp Repair, including replacement of the electrolytic filter capacitors and installation of a properly grounded three-prong power cord for improved safety and reliability. Even better, the original removed capacitors have been retained and will be included for collectors who appreciate having the original components.

Its uncommon circuit produces rich cleans, exceptional touch sensitivity, and a thick, smooth breakup that differs noticeably from comparable Fender designs. Many players consider these among Gibson’s best-sounding small vintage combos, and relatively few were produced compared to their Fender contemporaries.
