1964 represents the last year that Gibson used the Les Paul body outline and sunburst finish for the Melody Maker. This unbroken double pickup model retains all of its factory original parts, including the frets. The comfortable, round neck profile and 2 pickup Les Paul Special control layout make for an enjoyable playing experience. Other features include gold reflector knobs, wraparound lightning tailpiece and a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard.
Very pleasing lacquer checking has developed over the original sunburst finish. The photos show some chips on the body with some wear in places. The guitar is unbroken and intact with no significant repairs. One pickup required some resoldering at the potentiometer. This Melody Maker D includes a cool vintage guitar strap and an older chipboard case that fits and supports the guitar well. Here's a great option if you are looking for an entry level vintage solidbody Gibson.
