1940s Slingerland Concert King - DUCO, gray & blue

Rare, mid 1940s Slingerland Concert King (Radio King) drum in 8x15" size. Three ply shell, maple & mahogany with maple reinforcement rings. Since initially listing, I've learned this drum is likely to have been made between 1946 and 1948.

This drum features incredible nickel & brass hardware with stamped "Radio King" hoops and the unmistakable art-deco styling of the 1940s Slingerland drums. It is in very nice condition, and at 85+ years old, really fantastic drum to play.

Note this is not a one-ply maple shell that the 14" Radio Kings of the vintage used. This three ply maple/mahogany shell sounds fantastic though. You can see the mahogany interior ply in a few photos, including an original makers signature in pencil, and the beautiful "Slingerland Chicago" stamped washers on every lug bolt. The outer shell has a small crack near the dampener control knob, which is limited to the outer ply only, and does not affect the sound or integrity of the shell.

All hardware is original undamaged, and fully operational including the fantastic Radio King stamped hoops, and original snare wires. The heads are modern Remo ambassador heads, freshly installed and tuned up.

Sounds great tuned high or low, and looks amazing on stage. Includes original case and original (?) Slingerland snare stand.
