Original tremolo bridge by Nathan Daniels, founder and the brains behind Danelectro and most Silvertone models. He signed a contract with Sears to build their electric guitars. He didn’t bother to tell them he’d never built a guitar. The first Danos were branded Silvertones. .

The rest is history. Hollow Masonite bodies, poplar necks, a thick Brazilian rosewood finger board. Yes I did say Brazilian rosewood. That was long before it was a crime to harvest it. A chrome plated brass bridge/tailpiece, a rosewood saddle, an aluminum nut, and last but not least, the lipstick tube pickups.
That’s literally what the pickup casing was made of. Daniels actually bought lipstick tubes from a lipstick company and took them himself and had them chrome plated. They were used on all Danelectro guitars and all Silvertone guitars built by Dano. The tremolo system was definitely all Danelectro. It was quirky and there was no back travel. The first Danelecto Silvertones included the 1448, which was the first with the amp built into the case. It was also 3/4 scale. The guitar that incorperated most of the tremolos built was a solid body, Silvertone, Hornet 1452 full scale, red and black . I owned one of those guitars for several years and it was my main player. the bridge/tailpiece is primitive, but it is effective. There is no back travel on it, but I never really needed it. Those are great guitars. It was several years later before Sears started putting out guitars labeled Danelectro. They were more expensive. They had lots of different shapes Vincent Bell, a studio musician designed all kinds of strange things that Danelectro made, all kinds of radical innovations at a budget price. I am the Danelectro parts department. Seriously hit me up if you ever need anything I have a lot more on hand than I have listed on Reverb.

Oh and also this same bridge/tailpiece was offered on some of the later model masonite Danelectro branded guitars. These were often more expensive models.
