Bottled Bonamassa from 1962
Joe Bonamassa has revitalized and preserved the blues for new generations, and now you can be part of that tradition with Joe's limited-edition 1962 ES-335 from Epiphone! This semi-hollow electric guitar captures the magic of Joeās vintage ES-335. Built in 1962, Joe used this guitar extensively on his first studio album. This Epiphone creation offers lots of perks you wonāt normally find on a 335, or any semi-hollow for that matter. The body is made from layered maple for warm, balanced tone while two vintage-voiced Gibson Burstbucker pickups deliver true old-school PAF tone with remarkable accuracy. Paired with that is a mahogany neck outfitted with a 24.75-inch scale Indian laurel fingerboard for smooth playability and a supple string feel. What really sets this guitar apart from other semi-hollowbody guitars is the onboard Vibrola tailpiece.
Must-have maple
When it comes to semi-hollow tonewoods, maple has been the gold standard for generations. Thin-bodied folk instruments of the 20th century, including guitars and mandolins, made heavy use of this strong responsive tonewood, and luthiers quickly discovered it was a natural fit for thin semi-hollow guitars. The layered maple top, back, and sides on the Joe Bonamassa 1962 ES-335 deliver snappy, soulful tone thatās a natural fit for all things blues. This body sings with sweet mellow resonance when played clean or gently, but it will downright howl with untamed aggression when paired with a dirty amp or a well-EQād overdrive.
PAF-style pickups
The Joe Bonamassa 1962 ES-335 features top-notch pickups modeled after the most infamous humbucker of the ā50s and ā60s: the PAF. Introduced in 1957, the PAF has now caught on with players as their fast-pass to vintage tone, and the Joe Bonamassa 1962 ES-335 Semi-hollow Electric Guitar is no exception. It comes equipped with two Gibson Burstbucker pickups. Widely regarded as one of the best PAF-style pickups on the market, Gibson Burstbuckers deliver responsive and dynamic PAF tone with remarkable accuracy. Delicate turns of the volume knob will yield big tonal changes, and right-hand attack dynamics will greatly affect tone. This makes for an incredibly dynamic guitar with expansive tonal scope beyond just ādirtyā and āclean.ā Whatās more, these pickups are paired with premium internal electronics, including CTS potentiometers and Mallory capacitors, so you get period-accurate tone close to what Joe experiences himself with each strum of his original 335.
