For sale are a completely rebuilt pair of Altec 350 Valve Amplifiers. They are pretty close between each other sonically as well. They deliver approximately 40 watts of power each using 6550's as the power valves. Altec because of its roots with Western Electric has many of the same design aesthetics.
A note about the input octal input transformers.
In vintage Altec Lansing architectures, such as the 350 series and related tube-based amplification circuits, the requirement for an input transformer is contingent upon the source impedance and the desired isolation. For standard unbalanced operation, omitting the transformer—such as the Altec 15095A Line Transformer—often results in superior high-frequency performance. The use of these transformers is primarily intended to bridge 600-ohm source impedances or provide galvanic isolation in complex grounding environments.
We have just done the octal down below and if someone wanted to use a transformer just unsolder a few bridges on the octal and you are set. But the way that they are wired achieves a much more hi fi sound. And most of what is stated above is from the original Altec 350 manual.
