You couldn't walk into a music store in the 1970s without seeing one of these. For the young musician on a budget, Hondo's slogan—"First Name in First Bands"—rang true. This was about as close as you were going to get to the guitar your favorite rock star played. After all, back then it always came down to the look, didn't it?
This model is an homage to the vaunted Danelectro Longhorn. As many of you know, these were built at the famed Tokai factory in Japan. They may have been budget-friendly when they were new, but don't let that fool you—the quality is beyond reproach.
As for this one? It's about as clean as you'll ever hope to find. Some would even call it near mint. It still sports the original pickup, and it sounds like 668. 668? Yeah...the neighbor of the beast.
The original case is included, and with its two-octave, 31-fret neck, you'll have plenty of room to explore new musical territory.
Frets? Excellent. Truss rod? Works exactly as it should. Setup? Who you talkin' to, Willis? Of course it gets the professional treatment here.
In closing, you may find one of these for less, but just like your father always said, "You get what you pay for."
