This is solid mahogany vintage soprano ukulele made by the Rutan company in Kansas City, MO. It's from the 20s-30s and was modeled after vintage Martins. It has a rosewood neck and bound ivory celluloid edges. Has Grover NO: 76 tuners that were only around in the late 20's early 30's. Tuners function well and are easier to turn than some of my newer instruments. This ukulele is very clean for a 100 year old instrument and light as a feather. The sustain is immense and the sound is warm, deep and woody. It also has comfortable, playable action. See photos for action at 5th fret and 11th fret. Strung with new Brown Worth strings.

Here is what Jake Wildwood (famous luthier) says about Rutan ukuleles: "Let's get one thing straight: except for the headstock, wooden rosette, and slightly different fretboard end shape... this would be indistinguishable from a Martin-made instrument. They've always struck me as ukes of the very highest quality (ie, Martins). The thickness, brace shaping, neck style, etc. is all comparable.

Why fair condition: there are 3 cracks (1st crack = 3 inches) (2nd crack = 6.5 inches) (3rd crack = 3.5 inches) on the back of the ukulele which I tried to showcase. Will upload these pictures as soon as possible. The cracks are stable and it appears they were worked on (clean work) because I can see remnants of glue on the inside of the ukulele. These cracks do not negatively impact sound.

At the E string, the top piece of the bridge appears bent. It is very stable and doesn't interfere with sound or strings.

I also included a picture of the side of the fretboard. Whoever did the fret work filed into the wood a bit. It feels very smooth (and so do the frets). There's just the slight discoloration and the camera amplified the discoloration. It's not as bad as it appears here. I'm sure it could be easily fixed with a quick wood stain.
